By William Grosso
I put adsense on my personal website a while back. I did so more out of curiosity than anything else. My site gets very little traffic and it's no big surprise to learn that I can't retire, or even go to the movies, on the advertising revenue from it.
But I've been checking the results anyway. And today, what lept out at me was that Google is tracking the number of visits to various pages with a reasonable degree of accuracy. It's easy for them to do so: adsense is implemented as a piece of javascript that requests an ad from a google server. Every time a page loads from my personal site, Google gets a ping (that's not quite true, but it's close enough). What's more, when search bots and other automated tools hit my site, Google doesn't get a ping (because very few automated tools or spiders execute the javascript on a page). Google is, or could be, getting the equivalent of webserver logs, across a large number of websites.
This is very useful information. Google made their reputation, back in the early days, using PageRank, which they described thusly:
PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important."
The reason this might have worked is simple: the effort involved in creating a link made the vote worth something.
But, for a long time now, the speculation around the web has been that PageRank has been abandoned by google (see also: a google search on 'pagerank is dead'). The most common reason people propose for the alleged death is that the existence of link-farms effectively spammed the results and forced Google to ever more elaborate ways of computing results.
Now suppose that adsense achieves reasonable penetration into the web. What Google will then get is a reasonably good measure of traffic (and something much better than the Alexa Toolbar) for a large percentage of the web. Which will effectively enable it to resuscitate PageRank using people's browsing as a discriminating factor.
What's more, the information that Google gets from adsense is something that competitors won't be able to easily replicate. Adsense not only gives Google revenue, it could give Google an enduring competitive advantage.
Which is a pretty cool side-effect.
Of course, since I don't work at Google and don't really know much about what they do, this might be sheer nonsense. But I think it's an interesting line of thought. What do you think?

BY Istiak Rayhan
Would you believe that I applied for Adsense with a WAP site that didn’t have any option to put Adsense codes?
Believe it or not, but it’s true. And Adsense rejected my application. Cause that application didn’t make any sense to Adsense team.
That time, I didn’t have any idea about Adsense and how it works. All I knew that website owners can make money from Adsense. So I thought why not give it a try. After all, I was a proud owner of a mobile site.
Like me, there are a lot of people who apply for Adsense with low quality sites. That’s why Google became more strict on approving new Adsense accounts to maintain its quality.
I believe that you have a good web site (not wap) but Google disapproved your application. May be, this is the reason you are reading this post.
Getting rejected by Adsense is frustrating. After a few rejections, many new bloggers get this idea in their head that they won’t get Adsense approval ever. If you are one of them, you are not alone. And you are on the right place.
In this post, I will be sharing some tips on getting Adsense accounts. Most of these tips will be helpful mainly for Bloggers. I hope you’ll get approved by Adsense after reading this post. So keep reading…
7 Things to Do to Get Approved by Adsense
Google doesn’t reveal any hints on what basis they approve new account. All you can do is to maintain some standards before applying for Adsense. You can also consider the following tips as Google Adsense Approval Checklist.
1. Get a Top Level Domain
Those days are gone when people would get Adsense account with free sub domains site like blogspot, weebly etc. Google still approves sub domains site, but you have to make sure that your site has good contents, nice design, easy navigation etc.
It’s really tough to make sub domain sites compatible with Adsense standards. Google has already banned some sub domains site like .co.cc, .co.nr.
So I suggest you to grab a top-level domain like me. .Com, .net, .org, .in, .com.bd etc are the top-level domains. Here is an example to understand the difference.
- Free Sub domain – roadtoblogging.blogspot.com
- Top Level Domain – roadtoblogging.com
Go get a domain name from Godaddy.
Here are some important things you should consider before buying a domain name.
- Don’t use hack, crack, downloads etc on your domain name.
- Avoid copy right violation. (You cannot use others Brand Name on your domain).
- Don’t use any adult term.
- Also read: How to Choose a Good Domain Name
If you are going to create a WordPress blog, don’t forget to read this post: 7 Easy Steps to Create a Self-Hosted WordPress Blog
2. Good Design & Easy Navigation
You may have good contents on your site. But it doesn’t guarantee Adsense approval unless you’ve good design and easy navigation on your site.
If you want to make money from your site, then you should consider investing some money on site design. WordPress user can go for Premium Themes. If your budget is low, you can grab a theme from MyThemeShop.
So make sure that you’ve a professional looking design with a good navigation. Don’t forget tocreate a logo for your blog.
3. Submit Site on Search Engines
Whenever you launch a site, you always want that people can discover your site easily. Search Engines are the place where people you find your site easily.
All you need to do is submit your sitemap on search engines.
And also make sure that Google has indexed your site’s pages. Type site:yourdomain.com in Google Search and check whether Google indexes your site or not. Sometimes Google takes one week or more to index your site. If you’ve some relevant backlinks, you pages will be indexed fast. Interlinking blog posts also helps Search Engine Bots to index your pages.
4. Connect Your Site With Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools
Analytics and Webmaster tools are two awesome tools by Google.
Google Analytics provides detailed statistics about your site. And Webmaster tools provides detailed report on site’s pages visibility on Google.
These two tools help you improve your site performance that increase the chance of getting Adsense account.
- How to Connect Google Analytics with WordPress Blog
- How Add WordPress Blog In Google Webmaster Tools
5. Publish Fresh and Unique Contents
This is the most important part.
You have to create fresh and unique contents before applying for Adsense. Adsense doesn’t require huge contents, but quality contents. Some bloggers got Adsense account with only 20-30 posts, while some didn’t get approval with more than 100 posts.
So quality contents matter a lot. Quality contents are those which are well-developed and researched, free from copyrighted things and illegal download links, not copied from others, user-friendly and detailed. Your posts need to have more than 500 words.
So try to publish some quality content. Remember, Quality content is always king.
Adsense Prohibited Content: Copyrighted contents, Adult content, Hacking & Cracking related contents, Gambling/Casino/Alcohol related contents and all illegal contents.
6. Remove Other Networks Ads
It’s not a bad idea to try some Adsense alternatives when you don’t have an Adsense account yet. But remove those Ads before applying for Adsense.
Though Google allows you to use another Ad Networks with Adsense, but it creates a bad impression to the Adsense team if your site is filled with other networks’ ads.
7. Create Important Pages
There are some pages that provide better user experience. Google always focuses on better user experience. Most of the new bloggers don’t create these pages. Having these pages creates a good impression to the Adsense team. So create the following pages before applying for Adsense.
- About – Most of the first time visitors visit ‘About’ page. They want to know who you are behind the blog. In about page, you can write about yourself and your blog or whatever you want. Here is my about page.
- Contact – This is the most ignored page. You will realize its important once you have it. You might have missed direct advertising because of not having contact page. Learn:How to Create Contact Page in WordPress.
- Privacy Policy – According to Adsense TOS, you must have a privacy page that contains information about cookies, device-specific information, location information and other information stored on. So create a privacy policy page for your blog.

AdSense Direct: A new way to sell direct advertising on your blog.

This article introduces AdSense Direct, a new way to use AdSense to manage advertising that you directly sell ads on your blog or website - and to fill those spaces with AdSense ads when there are no Direct ads running.
AdSense have announced a new feature called AdSense Direct, which will let AdSense publishers (ie people showing ads on their blogs or websites) manage directly-sold ads using their AdSense account.
"Management" means that after an advertisement and campaign details are set up and approved, the ads will show on your site without any changes to your site (apart from having AdSense ads in on it), and having all contracts, invoicing and payments handled through your AdSense account.
After this, the ad runs during the time period that you set up for it. And after it has finished, regular AdSense ads are shown instead.
There's no statement about how this works with AdSense's limits on the number of AdSense ad units shown: does an "AdSense Direct" ad count towards the three-per-type-per-page that non-premium AdSense advertisers are limited to? My guess is "yes" - because regular AdSense ads are shown if AdSenseDirect ones aren't available.
Possibly you can only have one direct advertising campaign at a time? Google's announcement also says "If you've already expanded to running multiple direct ad deals and ad networks on your pages alongside AdSense, try our ad serving solution DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP)." - and yes, AdSense Direct does seem to be a vastly simplified version of this, which will benefit Google by signing up more advertisers.
And AdSense-Direct will only work in places where you can put an AdSense ad unit. For example it is possible to put ads right inside blog-posts. But regular AdSense ads need Javascript to work, so people who read your blog by email subscription or RSS don't see them. It's likely that AdSense Direct ads will be the same.
I haven't checked, but I'm pretty sure that the standard AdSense rules will apply. And this will mean that if your advertiser ticks any of Google's categroy boxes, their AdSense-served ad will not appear on your blog if you have blocked that category.
AdSense Direct is probably not available for Blogspot domains, or at least not for ones whose owner signed up for AdSense using the easier AdSense setups for hosted publishers.
I'm still looking for information about Google's charge or margin for using Direct. For regular AdSense (for non-premium publishers, anyway), its 42%, ie they pay out 58%. I guess it will be a lot lower - but still significant, as Google are providing tools to do some of the most troublesome bits of direct advertisign for us.
My (possibly hopeful!) guess is 20%. What's yours?

How to use AdSense Direct
- Arrange a direct deal with an advertiser -- this can be any advertiser, even one that doesn't currently use AdWords.
- Enter the details into your AdSense account; more details about this here.
- You will be given a link which you email (etc) to the advertiser.
- The advertiser logs in (possibly after creating a Google account), upload their ad "creative" (ie text and pictures), approve the terms you entered, and pays for the deal with Google Wallet.
- You - and Google - approve the ad creative (ie words and pictures).
After this, the ad runs during the time period that you set up for it. And after it has finished, regular AdSense ads are shown instead.
Limitations
Bad news for now:AdSense Direct is currently available to publishers and advertisers located in the U.S., and we hope to expand further in the coming months. But my fingers are crossed that this will change soon.

Creating a YouTube channel full of interesting, funny, useful, or just plain silly videos is a great way to start your climb to Internet stardom. After all, the saying goes, you can’t win if you don’t try.
But, unfortunately, with videos uploaded each minute, not everybody can become famous on YouTube instantly.
So in the meantime, while you wait and work hard to be discovered, why not make money with your YouTube channel? You put hard work into your YouTube videos and vlogs, so why not let your YouTube channel do work for you?
Google AdSense is a free and simple way to monetize your YouTube channel without the hassle of maintaining a relationship with individual advertisers. When you sign up for AdSense, you have access to thousands of advertisers who will bid on the ad space you provide on your channel. The highest bidder wins. Each time a YouTube viewer clicks on an ad that appears within your video or in the upper right hand corner, you get paid!
Google AdSense focuses on providing your YouTube channel with ads that are relevant to your viewers and target audience to increase the likelihood that the ads will get viewed.
AdSense also provides you with an array of data and reports so you can see how these advertisements are performing. And the best part is you get all of this by just signing up. In fact, AdSense basically allows you to sit back and make money with little to no extra work—on the advertising end that is.
In order to maximize the amount of money you earn from using AdSense on your YouTube channel, it is essential to increase your viewers. After all, if nobody is watching your videos, then there won’t be anybody to click on your advertisements and give you a profit.
The best way to increase views on your YouTube channel is to promote your videos using social media. This shouldn’t be anything new to you.
If you haven’t done so already, set up social media accounts specifically for your channel on the platforms your viewers spend the most time on. Use these platforms to announce new video uploads, engage with your viewers, and host contests. No matter what you are posting, pinning, or tweeting, social media is a great way to get more views for your YouTube videos and ultimately increase your revenue.
So how do you get started with AdSense? Because AdSense is a feature of Google, you have to have a Google account. If you don’t, visit Google’s website and sign up. While it may be tempting to use a Gmail account name that reflects your YouTube channel, it is best to create a personal email account because you will only be allowed one individual and business AdSense account in a lifetime.
Google AdSense will walk you through the steps for a quick and easy account setup. You can then use your newly created personal Gmail account to setup an AdSense account with the same ease. It may take a few days for Google to review your request for an AdSense account.
If you are approved, Google will send you an email with a AdSense account number (publisher ID). Write it down where you can easily access it. This number will serve as your AdSense account number for all channels, sites, or content on the Internet where you will be using AdSense.
Once you have an account, you must enable your YouTube channel to be monetized. Visit the “monetization” tab in your YouTube account settings and click enable.
In order for you to be able to monetize your video on YouTube, it must be 100% original. If you are uploading content from other YouTube videos or using a segment of another user’s video, you may not be eligible for monetization. If it is mandatory that you upload unoriginal content, make sure you obtain the rights and licenses first.
After your account has been “monetized”, you will add your AdSense account number. Your YouTube channel and AdSense account will now be linked opening up the gateway for revenue.
Google allows you to display ads on the videos of your choosing. After you have uploaded a new video and wrote a brief description, you will see a box that asks if you’d like to monetize this video. Click this box only if you want ads to appear on this video.
You will have options for the way you want the ads to appear in your video. Select the top two options—overlay in-video ads and TrueView in-stream ads. Overlay in-video ads allow transparent ads to be displayed at the bottom of your video while TrueView ads give the viewer the choice of ads they would like to see and when.
Connecting an AdSense account and enabling your videos to be monetized should be done closest to the launch of your channel as possible. If you are just beginning a channel, set up AdSense and enable monetization immediately.
You can also do this with 100s of uploads under your belt. But the sooner you add AdSense to your videos, the better because you never know when one of your videos is going to go viral. And imagine all of the revenue you will miss out on when this happens!
It is also important when using AdSense not to click on your own ads. While this may seem like an ingenious way to increase your channel’s profit, Google is a step ahead. If you are caught clicking on your own ads, your YouTube account will be ineligible for monetization, and you will be banned from AdSense.
Overall, Google AdSense is great way to start making money on YouTube with your videos.

Top 10 Ways To Make More Money from AdSense Using Keywords
- Obtain a URL with very important keywords in your niche: I can't say enough about this. The #1 reason I have so many domains is because when you build a niche site if the domain has your top 2 or 3 keywords in it - you immediately start getting traffic from post #1. This is very important.
- Use permalinks, pretty URL's, etc: This is second most important whether you are using WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Mambo, or whatever. As soon as you setup your software turn on permalinks, pretty URL's, or whatever it's called so you posts have "site.com/this-is-my-post". Having great keywords in the URL past the top level domain name is only second to keywords in the domain name itself.
- Find the Best Keywords and Phrases: DO YOUR RESEARCH! Find out how to do keyword research. If you don't know what the best keywords for your niche are - there really isn't much point reading any farther than this...
- Create a Great Title: When you write a post the title controls much more than you think. Everyday I read great articles with crappy titles. With every title you need to be thinking of using keywords that will be searched for while linkbaiting a title enticing people to click. This can be harder than it sounds, because the best titles are 6-8 words or less. I've gotten better at this over time, but it's just practice, practice, practice to become a master at it!
- Have an H1 Title first: WordPress natively takes your html post title tag and puts it into an H1 tag as the textual title on the post's web page. If you use another CMS like Drupal, Joomla, Mambo, or something else make sure your Content Management System does the same. Keywords in header tags (especially the first header of the page) carry much more weight than laster in the content areas.
- Start with a Synopsis Paragraph: Unless you are writing custom meta description tags for every single page the most important area of any post or page after the title is that first paragraph. This paragraph ultimately becomes your description under you title link in search engine results pages. You want to stick to 2 or 3 sentences when possible, or at least place your important keywords there. Remember - what you type will not only determine how well this page comes up in search results, but also how your page is described and why people click!
- Bold important keywords as you write: As you write your post or article bold keywords and phrases when you are making points. These keywords, combined with your title and synopsis help target ads (and traffic!).
- Link relevant sources: This is a given, but should be mentioned. Be sure to link only relevant items in your post - it helps target everything.
- Organize sections using h3 and h4 headings: Using h3 and h4 headers in longer pages and posts is a great way to "sub-title" the page with even more targeted keywords. It's also easier to organize information (and for more people to follow and read).
- Use keyword laden categories and tags: Just before you publish that page or post, be sure to use great keywords to both categorize and tag it.

Labels: Free adsense keywords and information, Introducing AdSense Direct - a simple way to manage your direct sales, Wayne Mansfield
We’re happy to introduce AdSense Direct, a new feature for publishers getting started with their first directly sold ad deals. You can easily manage directly sold ads from within your AdSense account, and show them on your pages without needing to make any changes to your site’s code. AdSense Direct is currently available to publishers and advertisers located in the U.S., and we hope to expand further in the coming months.
To use AdSense Direct, you’ll first need to arrange a direct deal with an advertiser -- this can be any advertiser, regardless of whether or not they’re using AdWords. Once you’ve both agreed on the terms of the deal, enter the details into your AdSense account. You’ll get a link to send to the advertiser, where they can upload their ad and pay for the deal with Google Wallet. Once you approve the ad creative, the campaign will be ready to launch at the time period specified.
Managing your directly sold ads through AdSense Direct can help you:
- Maximize revenue: You’ll never miss an opportunity to earn revenue as your ad space will automatically revert back to showing AdSense ads as soon as a direct deal ends.
- Save time: There’s no need to create contracts for every direct deal, as both parties contract with Google. Invoicing and payments are also handled automatically; your earnings from these deals will be included in your monthly AdSense payments cycle.
- Control your brand: You and Google review all creatives submitted by advertisers before they run on your site.
Just getting started with direct ad deals? We suggest adding an ‘Advertise here’ form or link to your page that will enable interested advertisers to get in touch with you. Once you’ve secured an ad deal, you can set up the campaign in a few short steps.
If you’ve already expanded to running multiple direct ad deals and ad networks on your pages alongside AdSense, try our ad serving solution DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP).
We look forward to hearing your feedback on AdSense Direct as we continue to refine this feature. Please share your comments and feedback over on our AdSense +page.

So you want to make money with Google Adsense? I don't blame you, who doesn't want residual income! This article will show you how to better optimize Google AdSense to make more money from your web site(s).
Before we get into it, learn more about Google AdSense here: http://www.google.com/services/adsense_tour/
First and foremost is: Positioning
Where you position your AdSense link boxes and banner ads is extremely important. Trying to make money from the bottom of your pages within your website just won't cut it. You need to add your AdSense links right in the heart of your template or right in the heart of your content. I would personally suggest both actually.
Adding AdSense in the heart of your template:
Link Units:
Since the introduction of Google AdSense "link units", we can now add what looks like a "menu system" to compliment our menu system within our website. This is HUGE. Have you ever just clicked on a website and kept clicking on the menu links? I know we all have. By adding a "Google link units" to your menu, you will get more clicks than you thought possible. Try adding the link units near the top for better performance and try creating your link units to match the color of your menu system in place. Once in a while I find myself clicking on a menu link unit without even realizing it which in turn gives more money to the website owner.
Leaderboards & Skyscrapers:
These may very well be your "bread & butter". I only say this because of the sheer size of these ads units. The best place to add these ad units is obvious; Straight across the very top of your website (leaderboards), and straight down the side of your template (skyscrapers). Anywhere else may not look proper within your template and may look unprofessional.
Square & Rectangle Ad Units:
These are great to compliment the mass amount of content within your website and also within your recommended resources. You want to compliment your content, you don't want AdSense to BE your content because this will look poor on your part. AdSense is very popular with webmasters; who doesn't want to make some extra money. However, don't forget that many of your visitors are also used to seeing AdSense within a website, and need a good reason to click on them.
Square and rectangular units are great to use within articles posted on your website or within your link resources. Try adding your AdSense boxes above your resource links within a page to give your AdSense account that added extra exposure.
Just remember that Google allows up to 3 ad units per page. Using these 3 strategies will help to better optimize AdSense for positioning! Let's now go onto targeting...
Optimizing Adsense: Taking out non-related ads!
Do you ever wonder how ads like "business card specials" ever get displayed on to your website when your company content is all about baby clothing? Since the introduction of "Adwords Site Targeting", we now have to keep an eye on the ads being displayed on our website(s). Companies may now specifically target your website for more exposure. There is no restriction whether the website is content related or not, just more marketing exposure for the advertiser.

Adsense earning stands on three principles: Topic/Niche, Visitors' location & Keywords.

Whether you use Adsense for monetization or any other ad network, but in order to get the most potential you need to have great content on your site. Here is the list of the topics which actually can pay you more than your expectations, but the condition is; if you write quality content over these topics and work hard to bring people for watching your content, because traffic/visitors = money.
Topic #1. Making Money Online
Making money is a topic which is searched the most on the Internet, this topic has a lot of advertisers and every advertiser wants to get their ads displayed by Adsense, so the CPC rate is the highest. This topic can make you 100% times better earning than any other topic.
Topic #2. Health
Health is one of the major topics on the web, which also has a great amount of monthly searches, people from Western World and USA search for health tips on the internet, so if you have knowledge on health topic then it is another great topic to earn the most with Google Adsense.
Topic #3. Blogging or Internet & Computer
This topic is related to computer and information technology, whether you write on Blogging tips such as web designing, web development, SEO, WordPress or you write on computer windows tips, IT related issues, this is all one topic but may have specific topics as well. This is the third high paying topic for earning more money with Google Adsense.
Topic #4. Business & Finance
Business and Finance are absolutely similar to each other, but if one is having deep knowledge over these topics than I'd let them know that these topics are the high paying topics in terms of Google Adsense earning.
Topic #5. Digital Photography
Do you know a Pro Blogger (Darrwn Rose) has a website on Digital Photography and probably he is earning more money than his technology blog, so the Digital Photography is one of the top high paying niche for Google Adsense, because people want to sell their Digital work on the internet and therefore they run long campaigns for their products via Google Adsense.
There are many other topics which also pay more like following:
Security (Networking, Computer Related Security)
Insurance
Loans
Forex Trading
Medical Stuff
Jewelery Stuff
Fashion Designers
Ancient Goods
Currencies
Make-up Tips
So you can get an idea from above niches/topics for earning decent amount with Google Adsense. However, the most important thing is; you will only earn more money with Google Adsense if you have great content and people are visiting you. However, some topics like Celebrity wallpaper, football news, Girls photos, poetry etc won't make you good money with Adsense. And another factor for low earning with Adsense is; the geographic locations of your visitors, if you have the most visitors from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh or China etc then make sure your earning will be lower than your expectations. However, if you have a good percentage of visitors from Western Countries, Canada, USA and Russia etc then you'll be flying on the sky.
That's is the difference.
