Ways To Optimize AdSense Ads To Increase Revenue

For a lot of blogs out there, the major purpose is to make money, So today, we'll carry on the idea, and talk about Google AdSense. For beginners as well as advanced users, the start of a new year would be a good time to start thinking about your AdSense campaign. Are you making the most out of your ads? Now would be a good time to review your ad performance, and make changes accordingly. So here, we'll provide you with a checklist of 6 things you can do to optimize AdSense and make the most out of your ads.

1. ARE YOU UTILIZING YOUR AD SPOTS?

This is the first questions you should be asking yourself. AdSense won't allow you to add as many ad units as you like. But are you even utilizing all the ad-spots that it does allow? For every page on your website, AdSense will only let you place three AdSense for content units. These vary in size, so you can utilize the best possible locations your ads can fit in. But you can only place one 300x600 ad unit. Apart from this, you can use three text-ad units, and two AdSense for for search boxes units. Before placing all these ad-units though, take some time to consider whether you have a sizable quality content to ad unit ratio. It just doesn't make sense if all the ad spots have been used, but there is no actual content on that page.

2. TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR AD SIZES

Generally speaking, wide ad units tend to perform better than tall ones. For example, the 728x90, 336x280, and 300x250 ad sizes are usually the highest performers. You should try on multiple ad sizes, and find out for yourself what works best for you. The ad size should also correspond to the placement of your content. For example, a tall and thin ad-unit doesn't make sense within a written post.

3. USE TEXT AND IMAGES TOO

Usually, publishers just focus on image ads, and forget about the other options available. Adding text ads is a good idea as well, because they compete with the image ad units for the same space. Using a combination of text and image ads can help you earn a lot more.

4. ADD SEARCH BOXES

As mentioned above, image ads are not the only thing in the world. AdSense will allow you two AdSense for search boxes units per page as well. They let you place a custom search engine on your site to provide users with web search. And you might earn from relevant ads on the search results page.

5. MAKE YOUR AD UNITS ACCESSIBLE

Pay special attention to where you actually place your ad units. They should complement, and fit in with your content. And also, users should be able to easily identify and access them. Generally, ads should be above-the-fold. Google offers a lot of guidelines to help you place your ads.

6. CHECK OUT COLOR COMBINATIONS

Last, but not the least, use trial and error, and play around with various color schemes and ad styles. They can play a big part in how much revenue you earn. There are three strategies you can choose from. Blend, Compliment, and contrast. Compliment is normal placement, where ad units are used within content, and are distinguishable. Blending ad units into content means using the same colors, so that it is hard to distinguish the ad unit. Contrast means you use contrasting colors that scream out an ad-unit's presence. You can use any of those, as long as you follow the guidelines from Google.

5 ways to get your site better optimized for Google Adsense

by John K

Just because you have Google Adsense does not mean you’ll start making money right away or even start to build up a sizable. As I’ve said before, you should use Adsense as a way to make supplement or just extra income. With that in mind, please keep an open brain for some of these ideas to help you out greatly:

1.) Fresh Content is a must Nowadays, you cannot rest on your laurels and think that you’ll simply make money from content of yesteryear. No, you need to update! With the way Google constantly changes the algorithms, the best thing to do is to update with fresh content on a regular basis. It doesn’t have to be every single day, but just once a week or a couple times a week should suffice. This keeps you well ranked on the search engines, and it helps to bring your older posts to the forefront. Even your older posts can be updated with some fresh content that correlates to now. You can update with new information, new pictures, and even new SEO tags so they are better optimized for today’s date.

2.) Setting up your site I’ve found out that every site works differently. Some sites work better with more image ads. Some sites work better with more text based ads. Some sites work better with the ad placed right near the title. Some places work better with less ads. It’s all a matter of the way your site looks and the way it’s designed to hold the ads. Personally, one of my sites, my cocktail blog, is the best performer just because it’s a recipe site and I have my ads located at the top and the corners above the fold almost as if they go together. When people bid on your ads, it’s great to target your ads near the text. I’ve gotten clicks as much as 2-3 dollars a piece just because of that.

3.) Adding the right pictures One thing to note is having great pictures helps to draw attention, which means traffic. The title is cool, the keywords are cool, but if you take great pictures, you’ll get a lot of traffic. Take the search engine. Google’s SEO does not just deal with the written words, but they deal with the pictures as well. If you tag your pictures well, then that means more traffic and more potential clicks because that’s what the people look for. You have to really put in your head “what would people look forwhen they are searching these posts?”…”how do i capture an audience?”…these are things constantly going through my mind. I still have notes on my InkPad to help me decipher through my mind. Also, NEVER and I mean never knock the power of Pinterest and Tumblr. That is great, relatively untapped traffic when it comes to blogs.

4.) Videos!! Create more videos! Remember, text and blogs aren’t the only way to profit from Adsense. If you have great viral videos, you can definitely rake in some dough for your Adsense. That’s actually how I was able to get accepted into the Adsense program. They would not let me in the front door, so I found the back door to get in! The great thing about YouTube now is your YouTube channel and your website will be synced. This will give you even more SEO power, and more traffic. You’ll get great links back to your site and really start getting the money you deserve. Another reason why videos are great because you create the human factor. You have sound, visuals, and put yourself in the mix that transcend BEYOND the written word!

5.) Multiple niches Don’t just stick with one site and call it all good. If you have a knack for different things, then keep at it. Create multiple blogs. At the very least, you’ll find what works and what doesn’t work. You’ll find out what you spend more time on and focus on that then start branching out into more specific subjects. For example, I started out with a blog like Playstation 3 Game Console and I loved making people drinks so I developed Great Cocktail Recipes, I still loved video games so I’m going to start posting Gamer Cocktails. I loved business so i created 25 Home Based Businesses then I develop Home Based Business Tips from my experience with this blog. You see where I’m going? There are countless things you can do. You can even set up multiple YouTube channels and have some coinciding brands that can tie em up all together! Remember, there’s not one way to skin a cat!

Increase Google Adsense Earnings

By Becky

Below are the tips to Increase Your Adsense Earnings:

1. The only (legal) way to increase your earnings is to bring in more traffic. You can increase your traffic this way:
Pinterest – This is a great way to bring in traffic.
Better PicturesIf you don’t have pin-worthy pictures, your page and post will be overlooked.  I can promise you that.  Every picture can use a bit of editing!
Facebook- You need to be active on your blogging Facebook Page.
Link-ups (Linky Parties).  You will want to do link-ups, at least at first.

2.  If you are trying to make more money per click, make sure that your Ads are Targetable.
On Google Adsense, you need to make sure that you have Targetable Ads.
Watch your ads:  You will want to track your ads to see which ones make money.

3. Keep it above the fold (this means that it has to be seen when you first click to your page.  This is the first thing that you see (“above the fold”).   Google doesn’t want them below your posts or in your footer or low in your sidebar.  They want them to be seen right away.Google Adsense is one way to make money on your blog.

Make Money with Google Adsense

by VINMA JOSEPH

One of the largest and most trusted online ad networks that are commonly used by website owners to make money is Google Adsense. If making money online is in your agenda, here is almost everything you need to know about Google Adsense.

Google Adsense vs. Google Adwords – is there a difference?

There is a huge difference between Google Adsense and Google Adwords. Their names are similar, but they have very different roles in the online world. One is for advertisers and the other is for publishers. Google Adsense is used by content publishers. This is what you would use to make money by displaying ads on your website or blog. Your website then becomes an online billboard or commercial for your readers.
Google Adwords is used by advertisers or business owners. The advertiser pays Google to display their ads on your website. You use Adwords to sell your product or drive traffic to your site.

Google Don’ts

  1. Don’t place too  many ads per page or per ad type. Google has a set number of ads they will allow you to display at one time. These amounts are updated from time to time, so just make sure that you read the terms carefully.
  2. Google is diligent about invalid clicks and they monitor their website publishers for this. Invalid clicks will get you account banned from Adsense. An invalid or artificial click is one that was unintentional or purposeful. You are not allowed to click on your own ads, ask a friend or family member to click your ads or join an “ad swapping” group. You may not click your ads using automated programs or robots and you cna’t disguise your ads in any way.
  3. A publishers must be careful about where they place their ads. The biggest problem that I have seen people have with this is with the leaderboard ad. The leaderboard ad is typically placed at the top of a website, and can be a great Google Adsense earner. However, if you have a drop down menu, you MUST be sure that i does not overlap with the Adsense banner. You can easily get invalid clicks if a reader attempts to click an option on your menu and accidentally clicks your ad. If you have a drop down menu on your site, you might consider placing your Adsense ad above your menu to avoid this form of invalid clicks.
  4. Don’t place ads on inappropriate websites. You can place Google Adsense on almost any website or blog, with a few exceptions. Google does not allow adult-themed sites or any site that it deems inappropriate. This can include firearms or weapons of any type, drugs or alcohol and designer knock-off sites. They also require that you have relevant content on your site. This means that you aren’t allowed to have a site for the explicit purpose of displaying Google ads. Just be sure that you write quality content  regularly. It’s the content that makes your site unique! Original content will bring traffic to your site, and traffic to your site will boost your Google Adsense income!

Ad Units

Google allows many different types and sizes of ad banners or ad units. This is great because you can fit a Google Adsense ad into any design or layout of your site. They have image ads, text ads, mobile and beta-testing interactive ads. The most common sizes of ad units are:
  • Leaderboard (728 x 90) – usually seen across the top and bottom of a webpage, It is vertically short and horizontallly wide.
  • Medium Rectangle (300 x 250) Typically found within a blog post or on a side bar of a website, it is almost square.
  • Wide Skyscraper (160 x 600) – The only places I have seen this ad unit is on a sidebar or in a column. It is vertically long and horizontally thin.
  • The Button (125 x 125) – Commonly called the thumbnail, it is found on sidebars or on a small column layouts and in blog posts.

Ad Placement

Ad placement is extremely important with Google Adsense. If you have a  site that has a significant amount of traffic but oddly placed ads, you will not make much money. Likewise, you would potentially make more money with properly placed ads even on a smaller traffic site. It will take some effort and time to find the best ad placement for your site, but once you do, you should see the rewards for your effort. The good new is that Google has a built-in dashboard to assist you with this process. You can see which ad units are making money and which ones are not. By monitoring this on a weekly or monthly basis, you can tweak the placement of your ads to bring you additional income.

Tips to Increase Adsense Revenue

DIY tips to Increase Adsense revenue :

Size/Location: This is one of the most common factor for getting low and high CTR. You should try putting Adsense ads around the content and above the fold. You can blend the ad with your site design and as I said, above the fold ads perform really great than below the ad fold.
One thing, which normally blogger ignore is link based ads. Link ads are different from banner ad and they don’t decrease the CTR of main ads, if optimized properly. I usually prefer to keep it on the header navbar. When you are designing a website for Adsense income, you should keep Adsense heatmap in your mind. This way you can easily create an adsense optimized themes and design for your new site.

Here are some of the Adsense sizes, which work out the most:
  • 336 * 280 : Large Rectangle
  • 300*250 :
  • 728*90
  • 160*600

As you can see, in Adsense world Size matters.

Organic Traffic: Adsense ads perform the best when your traffic source is from search engine. I also believe, interest based ads might not perform that great if you are getting direct traffic more. Many people complain about low CPC and low Adsense income despite of giving millions of impression/month. This is mostly have to do with CPC and traffic source.

Adsense for Feeds and Adsense for Search: Adsense offers many ways to monetize your site and two of them which bloggers usually ignore is Ads for feeds and Adsense for search. Adsense for feeds will let you add adsense ads in the feed. If your circulation of feed is really high, you will end up making good money from it.

Adsense section targeting:  Adsense is a contextual ad network and it works based on the content of your page. Now that includes your header and footer part, and because of this ads shown along with your article might come out to be irrelevant. Adsense section targeting is a quick technique to add two line of code before and after the content and your ad will be targeted to the content.

Image or Text Ads: This is one of the myth of Adsense, that image ads work more. By blocking an ad type or ad category, you decrease the competition on your ad and this also decreases the eCPM of your ads. Prefer to use both the ad type.

Ads between post:
Though, this may give bad reader experience but if you in big time mood to monetize a dead site more and increase adsense revenue, this one works great. You can easily configure adsense ads to match with your page background and color and add 468*60 or text link ads in between post. You can also add 7-10px padding for not giving worse reading experience to your readers.

Placement targeting:
This is one tip which many blogger are not doing. When you create a channel, you have an option to add more details about your ad types and put it for auction in the market by opting for placement targeting. This increases the competition and ad value on your site goes up. To enable this for every custom channel, you have to do it manually. To enable placement targeting on your existing cust. channel, you need to login to your Adsense account > My ads > Custom > Custom Channels. Now, click on one of the name and a screen like this will pop up. Simply add the details and put a tick mark on placement targeting.

Adsense Blacklist URL’s :
There are many advertisers/site which pays really less/click. There used to be a site for getting the Adsense ad black list, but if you have a list of yours or you know about site which perform really bad, you can block that advertiser URL. I have done it and it improved my revenue by 10% in a week time. This also include blocking your competitor ads to display on your site.

Adsense Category blocking :
In new adsense interface, category blocking feature has become much easier to use. You can quickly see which all category of as is performing worse and you can block those categories. I usually block those categories who have good percentage of impression but very low Earning %age. This can also be configured via your Allow and block ads page.

Adsense for Youtube:
If you are a video publisher or upload videos on Youtube, you can monetize your copyright video by Youtube publisher program. I have been using it for long and it perform really good. It depends upon traffic on your Youtube videos and these days adsense for Youtube is making almost $40-45/month. Here are some guide to get started with it:

Experiment:
If your only source of income is Google Adsense revenue, then this is one tip which will give the best result for now. Adsense tips given above are not all thumb of the rule. They are just generic tips to maximize income. But it may help or may not help in some cases. For example, some time placing 3 adsense ads unit on a page decreases the CTR and eCPM of the page. Though again it depend upon the page design and ad placement. So, you need to test things out and see what works the best for you. Play with link colors and see which link color combination is generating maximum CTR.

How To Change Your Ad Setting On Google AdSense

By Katrina
Advertising is one of the most asked questions by bloggers.  There are many different ways to advertise on your blog.  Google AdSense  is one of the most popular options.
However, if you are like me, you like control over what is advertised on your blog.  In 3 steps I will show you how to customize the ads that are shown through your AdSense account.
Step 1.  Once you are signed into your AdSense account click on ‘Allow and Block Ads’ on the blue header.
Step 2.  Click on ‘General Categories’.  From here you can see some broad categories.  If you want ads from those categories to show up make sure there is a green ‘allowed’ check mark beside it.  If you do not want that category shown, slide the box next to the green check mark over and voila!  A red ‘blocked’ shows instead.
Step 3.  Step 3 is where all of your hard ad decisions are made.  By clicking on the ‘Sensitive’ categories header you are dealing with the tough stuff: religion, dating, gambling etc.  This is the part where you need to reflect on what you want your blog to be.
There you go!  In just three simple steps you have customized and changed the settings of Google AdSense.

My Top 5 Tips For Increasing Adsense Earnings (Without Increasing Traffic)

1. Colour and Position  This is probably the optimization which is mentioned most regularly, but it’s for good reason. You really should experiment with different ad positions and different colour combinations. Each time you make a change leave the ads for a week and see how your earnings alter. Make a note of what works and then try something new. I was always sceptical when I read these comments before but since I have started playing with positioning my adsense revenue has multiplied by 4 times (crazy but true). Personally I’ve found that blending ads into the site works very well but it’s not the only way and you should try all the combinations you can think of.

2. Different date, different adverts  This is one of my favourites and I intend to write a post on how to do this next week, for now I will stick to the what and why. In simple terms, the older the page the more ads you show.
Despite the fact that I have advertising, I don’t actually like it. I have 0 to very few adverts on new posts, and increase the ads on older ones. This isn’t so obvious here on Binary Moon, but on Binary Joy I have gone a little crazy – but there is a method to my madness. The theory is that older posts will be more appealing to search engines, and visitors who come from search engines are more likely to click on ads. Another side effect is that I “reward” regular visitors by not annoying them with adverts, so I feel this is a good compromise. As I said above I’ll go into this one in more detail next week (with code).
3. Content Targeting  This one is a very simple change and is ridiculously straight forward to implement. Google have a simple comment tag that you can place around your primary content, and this is what your ads will be targeted to. The idea is that you place these comments around your core page content. That is, the content which is mostly text, and which best reflects the content of your site. On a blog this will generally be the main post content. The reason you do this is so that the adverts don’t target irrelevant content such as the links in your sidebar.
You can also add regions you want Google to ignore. I haven’t used these myself but they are something I intend to try in the not too distant future. You can read more on the section targeting page of the Google Adsense help.
4. Referrals  Google Referrals don’t make me a huge amount of money, but I like to include them on all my sites. Currently I only use one referral package and it only displays in Internet Explorer on the PC. It’s for the Firefox browser, and earns me roughly a dollar for every new install I generate. Some sneaky css removes the ad for Firefox users so that they don’t get pestered with unnecessary adverts.
To do the show/ hide css on your refferal code all I do is have a div with my referral button in it, which I hide. I then use conditional css comments to load some css to display the advert in IE.

+1 for free – Experiment, Experiment, then experiment some more

I know I’ve said this already but I can’t emphasize it enough experiment constantly. Things are changing all the time so it’s always worth trying different advertising layouts and schemes.

Your turn!

4 Guaranteed Adsense Account Approve Tips

BY

Many webmasters and bloggers keep asking about their rejection of AdSense Application. I have also faced restriction of Google AdSense policy in approval of my Google AdSense account. My application was rejected for three times for different reason each time. Then I gone through some research and analysis on internet and on my blog also and what I found is secrets of AdSense account approval tips. I think these tips may also help you to get your AdSense account application accepted at the first time; hence I am sharing AdSense application tips with you here in this article.
The first and most important golden rule is to read and understand Google AdSense Policies and make your mind to strictly follow them as Google is very strict to their terms. If you want your Google AdSense account application to be accepted at the first time, you must strictly follow below tips.
1. Website Content. Content of your website must be suitable and meeting AdSense policy criteria. Hence in short, no duplicate content, no unethical or porn content and must be useful and informative. No negative talking, negative reviews about other site, business or products. Content must be unique, genuinely written and original.
2. Domain Name: You must have your own private domain name and not sub domain of any free domain service or blogging services. Domain must be at least 6 months old. 6 Month is necessary to improve your website and generate traffic to it from search engines because new domains do not have traffic. This is why AdSense do not accept domain newer than 6 months. And do not register domain for one year only, it must be registered for minimum two years, as in many cases spam domains are registered for one year only that is minimum domain registration period and age of domain more than two years creates credibility of your business online.
3. Domain Owner name must match AdSense Payee name: You must tell Google that you are the owner of the website and not applying for some other high traffic website. Google checks for the match of your AdSense application name and your domain ownership name. If possible, also maintain the same address in your domain Whois record and AdSense application.
4. Apply for Google AdSense account with your email id hosted on your own domain. This is more important to prove ownership of the website. Google's sophisticated technology with Adsense will provide advertisements on your website which are generally related to your entire website concept as well as key phrases. You will earn money when a website visitor clicks on the particular advertisements that are shown on your website.
Anyone can easily boost the Click-Through-Rate (CTR) on the Adsense advertisements shown on your website by reading the pursuing tips:
Blend the Google Adsense Color Scheme to Match Your Website
When you're deciding on the color scheme of your Adsense ads, you would definitely want the ads to blend with your website and definitely not have a separate color scheme for it, which often shows a website visitor that you have Adsense ads displaying on your website. Therefore, most website visitors will by pass through the whole ad unit on your site if it's a different color scheme than what your overall website theme is about. For example, if your website text is shown in green you wouldn't want to use a red or blue color to display Google Adsense ads on your site. Make the Google Adsense ads match your color theme, so that you can possibly gain some revenue by a visitor clicking an ad on your site.
Most everyone that visits the Internet knows that a clickable link displayed on the Internet is usually blue. So when you design your Google Adsense ad, be sure to use the blue color on the website address.
Design of the Adsense Ad

Although you cannot actually remove the border from the Adsense ads, a work around is to utilize the exact same color that you used for the background of your website for the Google Adsense ads border. Then all you'll have is the text of the Google ads that blends really well into your website theme.
Displaying text or image advertisements on your website
Text ads appear to convert a greater click-through on Adsense advertisements than picture ads. Therefore the recommendation is to stick with text ads due to the fact that you can blend the text of the Adsense ads to complement the design of your website.
Focus on placing Google Adsense advertisements at the top your site
You should try to keep the Adsense ads on the top of your website without having a website visitor having to scroll. The top left of the main panel succeeds really nicely in terms of displaying effectively as well as having a reasonable click-through rate. Also, placing Adsense right underneath the particular header of your website is actually an additional feasible alternative to get some clicks so you can make some revenue.
Utilize the filtering option whenever inserting Adsense advertisements on your site.
Any time you design Adsense ads you can easily filter out virtually any websites you don't want to show on your website. Pay attention to this particular tip since you do not want competition displaying on your site just to receive a click from a website visitor.
Test, Analyze and Test (The Rinse and Repeat Model)
If you utilize Google Adsense, you need to frequently check and rework your Adsense ads to uncover the best combination of click-through and placement of the ads. Just keep testing various areas of your website and the placement along with the color scheme of the Adsense ads.
