Google Makes Selling Ads Easier For Small Publishers

by Steve Cooper

hose playing the ad game within the Google GOOG -1.42% universe are very familiar with Google AdSense and DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP). As a refresher, AdSense automatically fills unsold ad space inventory for quick and easy monetization, while DFP allows publishers to manage the inventory, campaigns and third-party advertisers. Now, there’s a third option that falls in-between the two, AdSense Direct.

AdSense Direct will fill in the AdSense inventory space with a third-party campaign that the publisher has sold, but without the setup hassle (and customization) that comes with DFP—plus the invoicing and billing is automatically handled through Google Wallet and paid out as part of a publisher’s regular AdSense payment. So while publishers still needs to sell the ad campaign themselves, it is now simple to run quick or low-cost campaigns that may have previously gone unsold.

Now, this service is not free. Google takes a 15% cut of the campaign revenue. For that, aside from technical setup, the contract that a publisher and advertiser would normally negotiate is now handled through Google.

Here’s how the setup works. The publisher creates a campaign within the My Ads tab on their Google AdSense account. The publisher sets the price, duration, and ad size(s) then sends a link over to the advertiser for the campaign. Once the advertiser uploads their creative, destination link, and agrees to the terms, including approval of the price, the publisher just needs to confirm the ad creative and link. Because this is run through Google, they will also review the ads and destination URL—approval is estimated to take about two days.

AdSense Direct campaigns must be set up at least five days before they will run; and campaigns must also run for at least one day, but can’t stretch beyond 90 days. Once the campaign is scheduled to run, the regular AdSense ads will be replaced by the new Direct advertiser creatives.

A few things to consider. With all this convenience comes a forfeit of some control. These are flat-rate campaigns that are not CPM- (cost per 1,000 impressions) based or CPC (cost per click). Moreover, the ad spaces where the creatives will appear are predefined based on the publisher’s AdSense setup. The publisher also can’t set limits based on impression caps, location targeting, operating system, IP address or any other custom setting. This works both ways, of course.

The advertiser will pay a flat rate regardless if the campaign serves 10,000 impressions or 100,000. So it’s important for both the publisher and advertiser to negotiate expectations beforehand. Also, if the advertiser wants custom targeting to specific pages, specific times or demographics, they’re better off setting up a traditional campaign using a more power management tool—like DFP.

When all is said and done, though, the slice of this new product that might get publishers to give it a shot is the automatic AdSense billing and payment—eliminating the countless phone calls and e-mails for overdue and unpaid invoices might be worth 15%.

Blogging And Adsense – The Perfect Profit Partnership

Blogging And Adsense - The Perfect Profit PartnershipAt present we hear more often that adsense is used as an effective tool to display contextually relevant advertisements of a company or product on the website. If a visitor clicks on the advertisement to check it out the advertisement poster earns a percentage of revenue. Many webmasters are increasingly used the Google Adsense model as it is very effective and popular. Blogging is very good for Adsense profits. Lets see in the next few paragraphs how blogging is used for increasing adsense profits.

You should use only niche blog sites that tend to generate more revenue through adsense. You may choose a niche site where sufficient number of advertisements is available to post. In case of items that dont sell for a high price and so it is not viable to advertise on the sites as the advertisement costs are particularly high. You can use keyword tools like overture to find out the most common keywords and also how much is paid per keyword. The key here is to get your site ranked well on the search engines.

It should be very much remembered that if the advertisements are more related to the websites content then your site has better chances of making it to the top of the search engines. You can also place the Adsense code in your website template to make maintenance of your websites easier. Along with blogging you can also choose use channels which will tell you which sites of yours are making more money in comparison to other sites. You should at least wait for a week after you post your advertisement on the website to see its effectiveness. You can configure web traffic from week to week to see which ad format works the best for you.

Another very effective thing to do is to integrate advertisements into the website. You can include the advertisement without any border so that the advertisement can be found by Google easily. You should post not more than 3 advertisements on each web page. You should be able to serve the most expensive ads at all times. You should also never make your advertisements scrollable. You will never see any scrollable advertisements on any website. The highest paid advertisements are normally posted on hotspots.

Along with blogging you can paste advertisements of the following sizes like 336 x 280 rectangle, the 300 x250 rectangle and the 160 x 600. Depending on the type of web browser and website the advertisements may appear in different sizes. You should experiment and track the results for each website.

Hence we see that blogging along with adsense works best for making your website more searchable by people and increase your revenues in the end. Blogging is used to post one way links to your website. You can use softwares like BlogSolution that can automatically post more than thousands of one way links to websites. You can also save your list of links to be used again in the future.

How to Increase Your Adsense Revenue Quickly

by

Adsense had me frustrated again! It seemed that every time I started making a decent income from my blogs, they changed and algorithm, or something and I found myself back at ground one. I was just about to delete all of my Adsense ads recently but decided to do some last minute research before I was too rash.
It took a bit of looking into bloggs and news about Adsense and I discovered that Google made some changes that was affecting my revenue. The research suggested that pay per click was decreasing on many blogs, and I confirmed the same with my own blog. My traffic had not decreased, but my pay had. First, more ads on a blog will mean less money is awarded per click. Second the more blogs a person has adsense on, especially if some of those blogs have very low ranking, the less money is also awarded per click. This is because quality blogs get more pay per click.
In other words, adsense publishers are penalized for having extra blogs that aren't getting any traffic. The penalty is that you are getting paid based on the reliability of your least valuable blog. This penalty is probably a result of dummy blogs set up for no other reason but to be ad farms. To put a stop to the ridiculous number of ad farms, Google and Adsense have given lower value to blogs that have low traffic and low value.
Now this information sounded a little suspect, but I decided to do my own experiment. Knowing that I had about 10 blogs, 5 of which I update regularly, I went through my blogs and deleted adsense from all of those blogs that were dormant. I also went onto one of those group blog sites I used to use where you insert your Adsense information and get paid for writing for their site. I deleted my adsense publisher ID there too.
I thought it would take weeks or months to see a change but by the same evening I had made a full days pay equal to what I was making a year ago. I checked back the next day to see if it was a fluke, and it wasn't. I had made the same amount of money two days straight when my adsense reveue had been flat for months.
So in summation, my Adsense revenue had dropped due the new payment scale based on the usefullness of blogs a publishers ads are placed on. So to raise my pay per click on my Adsense ads, I deleted adsense ads from any blogs I had that are low quality or dormant. This appeared to raise the overall value of my ads.

How to Increase your Google Adsense eCPM value Drastically

How to Increase your Google Adsense eCPM value Drastically
by

Adsense is one place where many bloggers want to earn more and quick. Therefore to have a good earning, we need to follow some of the basic Tricks of adsense.
Effective cost per thousand impressions (eCPM) is a familiar term for Google Adsense users. I am a Adsense user and started making a nice amount of money by using it on my blog. In last few months, I had seen some drop in the eCPM value for my Google Channels. After analyzing the details, I found some of the ways to increase the eCPM value to double the revenue from Google Adsense program.

1) Location of Google ads

As we know that eCPM is the effective cost per thousand impressions which means, if the ad impression happened for 80,000 times and you got a revenue of $250 from that in that case the eCPM is 250 / 80 = $3.12. With the simple mathematics it is clear that eCPM is directly proportional to the revenue and inversely proportional to the ad impression.
For generating a good revenue from google ads, you will have to put the ads at proper location which is also known as the best part of your blog post. Try to put a text ad of 300 x 250 at the start of the post or end.

2) Page CTR increase

When someone clicks on the ads placed on your blog, you will get money out of that. Money means revenue which is directly proportional to eCPM. Now use different types of ads like text, image, video on your blog and place the ads in between the post. You can also optimize adsense Units for best results. We also offer you an excellent way to increase page CTR.

3) Effective formats of Ads

The formats we’ve found to be the most effective are the 336×280 Large Rectangle, the 300×250 Medium Rectangle, and the 160×600 Wide Skyscraper. Try to use text ads because they serve more options to the viewer and they are very much relevant to the site.

4 Tips to Double AdSense Earning

by

Most of the webmasters are aware of Google AdSense program to make money from a website or blog. If you are one of them, you are at the right place. Google AdSense has given opportunity to make money online to all the webmasters by sharing some space on your web page for Google ads. You visitors click on the ads and you get paid. It looks so simple to earn like this, isn't it?
But, wait, it is not just enough to put ads on your site and wait for the visitors to click on them. There are many ad optimization tips for Google AdSense, which can range your online income from nothing to thousands. Below I have mentioned top 4 (four) tips to optimize your ad placement so that you can notice the change and make more money from AdSense.
1. Which Ad format is best? Answer to this question depends on the research and experience, but standard is big square box, either 300-250 or 336-280. This ad format is proven well in high ctr (Click thorough rate). I recommend using two boxes per page in total of 3 allowed by Google AdSense policy. You can also try another format and find out which one performs well for your site and your visitors.
2. Position of Ad on your web page. Standard rule is "Never place Google ads in bottom of page or page below the visible area", ads should be always visible without scrolling your web page. Best place to put ads is between your article title and content, near the top menubar, or any other area that you may think can grab visitor's attention. You should also use vertical ad format Wide Skyscraper (160-600) in your left or right side bar. You can also use Leaderboard (728 x 90) exactly below the header of your site.
3. Color scheme of ads. This is the most affective part of the ad optimization. Ads should not look like ads. Yes, you have to format ad colors to match the color theme of your web page. I mean, always use same background color in ad background and border, same link color in your ad titles, same text color in ad texts. In short, ads should be look like integrated content of your site. It does not matter that visitors know this is ad or not, they just click, you get earned. Another thing I have noticed in my experience is most of the people are habited to take blue color as links ( as it is default link color), so it can also help you to follow the standards of white background, blue link color and black text color. It can help you increase your CTR of Google ads and hence your online income.
4. Automatic Insertion. You can also use automatic insertion of AdSense code using server side include, PHP, ASP etc. If you do not know, what is this all about, don't worry and contact your webmaster. This may reduce your job if you are using page generator tools. You may also automate this with plugins, if you are using cms platform like WordPress, Joomla, droople. Try to concentrate ads position near the rich content.
These tips are from my own personal experience and believe that will also help you make more money with AdSense. These tips are really helpful and based on standard research and analysis.

Google AdSense Revenue Tips

by Kathy Burns-Millyard, Demand Media

Google AdSense is a contextual advertising system designed to allow small businesses and individuals to make money from their websites. Contextual advertising displays advertisements based on the surrounding content available on a given web page. If your small business website has an article about laptop computers, for example, ads related to that topic will display in the Google AdSense blocks on your page. Google AdSense revenue can vary dramatically based on a number of factors; by implementing a few optimization tips you can increase that revenue over time.

Website Traffic

Since AdSense earns money each time a website visitor clicks an ad, revenue will be low if website traffic is low. Increase your website traffic using online tools such as free classified websites, search engine listings and local directory listings to help increase the overall AdSense earnings on your website. Offline marketing tools help increase traffic too: Print your business website address on business cards and brochures, for example, and incorporate it into any of your newspaper, television and radio advertising campaigns.

Text Content

Google AdSense displays advertisements based on the type of content your business displays on its website, and the primary content of importance is text based. If your website has pages filled with images, video clips and other multi-media elements, AdSense may not be able to determine the topic of that page, and it won't be able to select the appropriate ads to display. Incorporate plenty of text-based material in the form of image alt tags, captions, video or multi-media summaries, and articles on the topic of what's being displayed to ensure AdSense is displaying relevant advertisements for your website.

Ad Placement

According to the AdSense optimization tips provided by Google, the placement of your AdSense blocks plays an important role in improving revenue generation. Internet users often scan a website page instead of reading it, so their eyes are naturally drawn to specific areas of a page. The top portion of a website page--the part that is seen without having to scroll down--is referred to as "above the fold." This location is a premium ad placement spot because a larger percentage of your website visitors are likely to see the ads in this area and click on them. Google provides several ad placement strategy recommendations based on the type of website on which your company displays AdSense. A blog, for example, can optimize revenue by placing advertisements in slightly different locations than a discussion forum.

Ad Design

Use the ad design tools provided by Google to customize the way your AdSense blocks look. In most cases, making the AdSense advertisements blend in with the look and feel of your website will produce the best revenue increases. Design the ads so they have the same background color as your website, and select text and URL colors that match the text and link colors of your site as well, so the ads look as if they're just additional related content.

Channel Tracking

Use the channel tracking features within your AdSense account to track ad performance. Google provides URL tracking and customized channel tracking. URL tracking helps you determine which specific pages or sections of your website are generating the highest revenue, as well as which are performing poorly. Custom channels are useful for determining which ad placements are performing best or worst on each page. Custom channels can be made to compare how an above the fold advertisement is performing versus another at the bottom of article pages, for example.

7 Tips to Adsense Earnings

No doubt there are really amazing systems of making incomes made on Google Adsense . The really interesting things in small sites and blogs are finding new methods to make money from their Adsense sites every day.
There are a lot of creative methods being discovered and put in to use to make money and maximize on Adsense earnings every day. More fascinating thing is that these tools being used do not cost anything. They are actually free. Here are 7 of the most effective currently being used.

A) Ways to make money from Adsense by distributing articles through ezine and article announcement lists

Some of the effective methods of making money from Adsense clicks include the simple steps of increasing volume of targeted traffic to a site. One of the ways of doing this is by distributing interesting content to ezine lists and article announcement lists. To give lot of visibility and drive tons of highly targeted traffic to your Adsense sites build a list that reaches a millions or so email boxes. Generally yahoo group is most popular place for doing this, but there are few others that you can find easily by using your favourite search engine.
The three main factors that give success are: Firstly you should care fully join article announcement list and ezine lists that are as relevant as possible to your subject matter and offering. Secondly your head line has to be a catchier head line that will grab the readers by the scruffs of their necks and force them to open your email message. Thirdly you will need the sort of resource box in all your articles that will leave most of your readers with no option but to visit your Adsense site.
Applying these techniques with in a short period of time my daily Adsense earning increased a lot.

B) Ways to make money from Adsense by Distributing free articles to high traffic article sites

Some people are surprised to see the increase in articles of relevant trends. The net is primarily an information-seeking tool. Anything which improves the quality of information will greatly benefit the people making that effort.
The high traffic is received by older article directories through web masters and site owners by seeking quality free contents for their sites. These sites also guarantee the future of targeted traffic to your site apart from immediate exposure.
The targeted traffic to the Adsense sites mainly depends on the articles we release to these sites everyday. This is one of the effective ways of making money through Adsense clicks because the targeted traffic will spend more time at your site or sites. The more time they spend, the higher the chances they will click on one of the Adsense ads posted by you.

C) Ways to make money from Adsense by using articles and a viral marketing website

If the use of referral marketing and viral marketing are involved in any online marketing technique has automatically huge chances of being success. The net is ideal for viral marketing and in fact gives any viral marketers a huge strategic advantage. One of the most effective ways of making money online is viral marketing or referral marketing.
One of simple ways of making money from Adsense is going by viral. You will automatically get your own viral site by signing up at a leading marketing site. To point people to your viral site you can use some of your articles. The way these sites work is that anybody who signs up at your site will have to visit your Adsense site if you register it at the site. You will be driving thousands of visitors to your Adsense sites with in a short period of time.
Find more details on this at my blog whose address you will find in the resource box below.

D) Ways to make money from Adsense with your email signature

The power and potential effectiveness of a simple email signature is greatly underestimated as one of the ways to make money online. The emails get forwarded all the time and are even copied to several other people through viral marketing method.
Do not waste another minute and create a signature that points to your Adsense site or sites in all your email accounts.
You have to develop effective writing skills of email signature. Using famous quotes is more effective than a straight advertising message. Always remember that the people hate to be advertised to online.

E) Ways to make money to Adsense by asking questions at discussions groups

In a conversation with a young internet and computer techno, he asked whether there were any quick ways to make money online by answering technical questions and solving their computer and web related problems. There were many discussions groups where participants would get answers for free, so a better chance of making money is by making use this free advice available online rather than by try to sell his own advice.
There are tons of online discussion groups where leading world experts will answer your questions and give you valuable insight for free. It is amazing why most people do not think of using these online forums to learn as much as they can about the most effective ways of making money from Adsense.
These forums can easily be found through you favorite search engine.

F) Ways to make money from Adsense by Bartering your online skills for valuable Adsense keywords

Bartering trade seems to have been forgotten but it is a powerful method of trading. People who have plenty of skills but are slow to trust others to send them money for an item they need can use online.
Your skills, products or services whatever you have can be bartered and exchanged for genuine valuable Adsense keywords. For a small site with low traffic valuable Adsense keywords are the most effective way to earn big money from Adsense. And you can do the barter trade on an on going base so that you can have a constant supply of Adsense key words which you can use in your site or blog as one of ways to make more money.

G) Ways to make money from Adsense by sending teaser emails

To everybody in your inbox and also to your opt-in email list
Most of us receive tons of emails in our inbox everyday. You will be surprised just by simply going through email inbox we come to know huge number of people. No matter how good your spam filters are you are bound to receive more than your fare share of emails. There are ways to make money using these emails because al this is “gold” lying in your email inbox. All you need to do is to process the emails into pure gold and send to “teaser emails”. The main objective of teaser emails is to get people to visit your site.

Most successful ad styles

Choosing the right ad styles can mean the difference between ads your users will notice -- and click -- and ads they'll skip right over. We've outlined a few strategies below that are designed to decrease ad blindness, the tendency for users to ignore anything that's separate from the main content of your site. By making these changes, you'll be making your ads more visible to users.

Blend, complement and contrast

Let's briefly define the three techniques you can use to design ad styles that will be successful for your site:
  • To blend, make the background and borders of your ads the same color as the background of your page where the ad is placed. If your site has a white background and you don't want to spend a lot of time choosing ad colors, we recommend using our pre-designed Google default ad style.
  • To complement, use colors that already exist on your site, but don't match the background and borders exactly where the ads are placed.
  • To contrast, choose colors that stand out against the background of your site. Contrasting is recommended only for sites with dark background, so we suggest using an ad style with white background, white borders, and blue titles.
For most color techniques, we recommend using colors for your ad text and links that already exist on your site. For example, if the links on your site are all green and your text is black, use green links and black text in your ads as well. Since most users are accustomed to seeing blue links, you might also try using blue. In general, use common sense when choosing your ad styles. If your site's main colors are pastels, don't design ads that are all primary colors. Users won't click on ads that are visually offensive.
The color strategy you should use on your site varies depending on the ad placement and the color of the background where the ads are placed. Review the table below for a quick reference about which strategies we suggest will work well on your site:

Light background behind adsBlendBlend or complement

5 Google Adsense Secrets, Tips and Tricks

I want to share you some secrets I learned up until now. I am not going to tell you basic stuff like “use channels”. Also, bear with me on the graphics. I’m no designer :)

1. Blend your ads. Adsense color and font size

1.i It’s tested and it works. Use the same colour of your page background, for the border and the background of the ad.

Adsense: blend colors with your page background

1.ii Use the same colors used in your page, for the Adsense ad title, text and url link.

Adsense: blend colors of title, text and url

1.iiia If possible use the same font in your page, as the Adsense ads. Since the ads have variable text size and font, according to dimension and type of ad, you can never do this 100% right. But every little bit helps.

Real life Adsense font size and type

768×60 Ad unit:

Adsense font size for an 300x250 text ad unit

As you can notice above, some ads have the arial font as default, some have verdana. Some have a 10px description text, some have 11px. And besides all that, each box may contain 1 up to 4 ads, and depending on that the font sizes will change. So it’s really up to you to experiment and see what works best for you, in as many cases as possible.

1.iv Try to not separate the ad from the content (like trashing the ad in some remote corner of your website. Integrate it within the content (in, within, next to, above, below etc).

Adsense: blend ads with the content Adsense: blend ads with the content Adsense: blend ads with the content

2. Placing ads high on a page is good

Position the ads with the highest CTR, as high as possible in the page, in the source’s order (in the image below, notice that the ad appears just below the body tag). The first ads that appear in the pages (in the source’s order) get the most income per click.

Adsense: position your ad as high as possible

3. Use images. Images and Adsense work together

Use images left or right of the ads. It makes them seen as part of the pages content, and your CTR increases. It doesn’t matter what images you use. Use any plain generic images. If you can, try to corelate those with the niche/domain of your website/blog. Be carefull not to write text, point arrows or similar on the images, as that might be seen as click incentives.

Adsense: blend ads with images

4. Earnings are variable, based on CTR

With the Smart pricing ideea, your income varies a lot, according to each of your channel’s CTR rate.
Now this is very important: It’s account-wide, not channel-wide. So if you have a very good CTR (5%-50%) for one website, and you include it in the same account with a 0.04# CTR website, you will loose money.

Remove all the websites (from your account) that don’t have at least a 5% CTR (or depeding on your overall CTR, remove the ones that are really lower than your average), or you’ll affect the income of all the other good converting websites.

5. Use non-standard types of ads

We all know that web-savvy (eg. webmasters or people that use the Internet for so many years, and know all the standards, convetions and so on) users are ad-blind.

Banners like 468×80 have been on the Internet since it’s creation. Even people who use the Internet vaguely or once a month, are kind of blind to these standard banners.

Instead, use vertical skyscrapers, or boxed ads. They have a much higher click rate. The Adsense team even published a list of their highest performing ad sizes:

336×280 large rectangle
300×250 inline rectangle
160×600 wide skyscraper

End note: I hope these advices help some people. If they did, drop me an e-mail and tell me about it.

Google AdSense: The top 5 optimization tips straight from Google

By Stephen Chapman

This morning, I met up with a Google AdSense Optimizer as part of Google's AdSense in Your City tour. The gist of the tour is to give AdSense adopters a 20-minute, one-on-one meeting with a member of the Google AdSense team. From there, you talk about your site(s), ask any questions you may have upfront, and basically walk away with site-catered professional recommendations straight from those who know AdSense the best.
Lucky for me, my meeting was scheduled for 9:30 AM. I arrived slightly early, met with the person I would be speaking with, and proceeded to enjoy the heck out of a 35-minute session thanks to my arriving early combined with the person after me arriving late. Now, I know quite a lot when it comes to AdSense, but I found out I have quite a bit more to learn yet! While most of the notes I took pertain to personal recommendations that I prefer to keep private, what I can divulge is the contents of a hand-out each attendee was given: A list comprised of "top AdSense optimization tips." From top to bottom, the document reads as follows:

Top AdSense Optimization Tips

Whenever we meet with publishers, we hear one question over and over again: "How can I use AdSense more effectively to increase my earnings?" We've written up our top tips here and encourage you to experiment with them and see how they impact your earnings. Happy testing!
1. Maximize your AdSense coverage In order to maximize your earnings, place three AdSense ad units and three link units on each of your pages. The more ads you display, the more opportunities you have for your users to engage with them.
Also, because some ads are paid on a cost-per-impression (CPM) basis, you will often be paid just for displaying the ads, regardless whether a user clicks on them.
2. Place your ads above the fold Ads that appear higher on the page perform the best. Place your ads so users can see them without scrolling down the page. The more a user has to scroll before finding your ads, the less likely they are to see them and to click on them.
3. Use the best performing ad units Our advertisers' preferred ad units are the Leaderboard (728x90), the Medium Rectangle (300x250) and the Wide Skyscraper (160x600). By using these popular ad units, you'll be tapping into a larger pool of competing ads. More ad inventory leads to more competition in the ad auction and ultimately results in higher RPMs for our publishers.
4. Show text and image ads Check your ad units and make sure that you've opted-in to displaying text and image ads. By diversifying your ads, you're able to increase the available inventory for your site. With most text ads paid on a cost-per-click (CPC) basis and most image ads paid on a cost-per-impression (CPM) ad, you can let AdSense determine which ads will maximize your earnings.
5. Complement your content with your ads Your AdSense ads should fit seamlessly within your site to improve your users' experience. Blend the color of your ads to match the rest of your site and remove the borders around your ad units to help your ads complement your content and enhance your site.
Bonus Tip: Opt-in to Placement Targeting Set up Custom Channels in your AdSense account and opt-in to Placement Targeting. Placement targeting allows our advertisers to bid on a specific ad or group of ad placements on your site. Advertisers are usually willing to bid more for targeted units.

AdSense Help: Most successful ad sizes.

As a rule of thumb, wider ad sizes tend to outperform their taller counterparts, due to their reader-friendly format. Readers absorb information in "thought units," several words at a time. Wider sizes let them comfortably read more text at a glance without having to skip a line and return to the left margin every few words, as they'd have to with a narrower ad.
If positioned well, wide ad sizes can increase your earnings significantly. The sizes we've found to be the most effective are the 336x280 Large Rectangle, the 300x250 Medium Rectangle, the 728x90 Leaderboard, and the 160x600 Wide Skyscraper. Keep in mind that while these ad sizes typically perform well, you should use the size that best complements your pages. For more information about these ad sizes, see our guide to ad sizes. It's better to add one recommended ad unit than two smaller ad units next to each other.
Tip for making the most of a little ad space: Try one of our streamlined link units, shown below. These sizes are versatile enough to fit in locations normal ads don't.

Filter AdSense ads displayed on your site

You can filter websites and ads from showing your site or AdSense for search results pages. To do so, sign in to your AdSense account at https://www.google.com/adsense and make the necessary changes on the Allow & block ads tab. Learn more about allowing and blocking ads in AdSense
Notes:
  • Ads for websites that you add to your competitive ad filter list typically won't run on your pages.
  • Filtering sites may decrease the number of ads that can appear on your pages and your potential earnings.
  • You can add up to 200 sites to your filter list.
  • The URLs you enter into your filter list can be the actual URL of the website or the URL that is displayed on the ad for that website.

Ad quality

Rest assured that ad quality on Google and publisher sites is a top priority:
  • Review: Across the Google network, ads are reviewed through a combination of human and automated processes before appearing on publisher sites. The review process takes into account a variety of factors, including the quality of the ad and whether the ad is suitable for all audiences.
  • Sensitive content filters: At times, certain ads may not be appropriate to run on all pages. For example, Google automatically filters out ads that would be inappropriate on a news page about a catastrophic event.
While our ad quality processes are highly effective, it isn't possible to guarantee that all content you deem objectionable will be prevented from appearing on your site.

How To Use Google AdSense Efficiently on Your Website
by Max Minzer

If you are using or want to use Google AdSense to make profit with your website or blog it is essential that you do it as effectively and efficiently as possible.
You will often see many webmasters and website owners use and put AdSense ad blocks randomly without optimizing ad style and location and expect their visitors to just click on links. You definitely don't want to be one of them. You want to use AdSense to its full potential and profit from each ad as much as you can.
Whether you are starting with Google AdSense or know the basics and want to go more deep – this post has valuable information on how to use Google AdSense efficiently for people with any subject-knowledge level.
Note before we start talking about ads: The most important part on your site is quality unique content.
It is useless and inefficient  to start using ads without having great quality unique content. You're wasting your time reading this post right now if you don't have content. Planning to build a long-lasting, profitable AdSense campaign? Forget about ads – have plenty of quality unique content first. Otherwise, your campaign will not be successful and you will not get desired clicks. It's just the way it is – no way around that.
Think "user experience." Think "value proposition."

How To Start with Google AdSense

Google AdSense = the largest and most profitable pay per click program
Pay Per Click (or PPC) program is an internet marketing program where advertiser (also known as vendor or brand) pays website owner for each ad click. There are 4 parties involved here: advertiser, Google AdSense, website owner, and website visitor/customer.
Pay Per Click process explained (click tabs):
  • Advertiser places a monetary bid to appear on AdSense ads for certain keywords.

How to Get Approved by Google AdSense

There is no need for detailed explanation here. Be sure to read all AdSense program policies and eligibility guidelines.
If you don't have a website (why wouldn't you?) – use Blogger to sign up and get approved.
The most important aspect of getting approved (if you follow other rules) is having plenty of quality unique content on your site. All pages on the website need to be finished and not under construction, empty, or have ads only.
