5 Common AdSense Mistakes You Need To Avoid

By

If you are trying to make money online, then I am sure that you have dabbled with Google AdSense. The nice thing about Google AdSense is that you don’t have to get a ton of traffic in order to make money; all you need to do is get people to click on your ads.
What most people understand about Google AdSense is that they need to get clicks but it is how they get the clicks that they are often confused with. There are a lot of mistakes that people make regarding Google AdSense and that is why I want to tell you what the mistakes are and also tell you how to fix that problem.

Common AdSense Mistakes

Clicking On Your Own Ads

One thing you never want to do is click on your own AdSense ads. The reason why you don’t want to do this is because Google will not pay you for your own clicks and if they catch you doing it a lot then they will cancel all your earnings and close your account. People all over the world think they can outsmart Google by redirecting their IP address but Google knows all the tricks that you can do. What you need to remember is that Google is the smartest thing in the entire world so if you think you found a trick to get past them, then just know that they have already thought, planned and implemented a remedy for that trick.

Ad Placement

Another mistake that many Google AdSense affiliates make is they don’t place their ads in the right spot. What I recommend doing is placing your ads in the center of your website and above the fold (bottom of the page when it loads). The reason I recommend placing your AdSense ads in this spot is because this is where everybody looks when they come to a new page. Just by putting an AdSense ad right here you will increase your CTR and that is why I recommend doing it.

Too Many Ads

Do you know the maximum amount of AdSense ads you can have on your website? Just so that you know, you can only have 3 banner ads, 3 link ads and 2 search boxes per page. If you have any more than this, then Google will only show the maximum number of AdSense units for a while and then when they figure out that you are showing too many AdSense ads, then they will suspend your entire account. It is hard to put too many AdSense units on a single page but many people figure out a way to do it. Just know that the more ads you have on your page, the less professional it will look. My advice is to keep it simple and don’t use any more than 3 AdSense ad units on an entire page.

Not Using Ad Links

Do you use ad links? The main ad link is the 780X15 and it works great. The reason people don’t use this is because they don’t like the way it looks but this is the highest clicked ad unit that Google offers. What you need to understand is that when this ad unit is placed under the navigation bar, it looks just like another navigation bar. This just means that people will assume it is part of your website and therefore they will click on it more.

Asking For Clicks

Never ask for clicks. It doesn’t matter if you are asking people you know or people you don’t know, this is a bad idea. The reason you should not ask for clicks is because Google will figure out if there is a pattern or some kind of connection to the person who is always clicking on your ads. Just do yourself a huge favor and don’t waste your time with this practice because it won’t last long before you get caught.
Making money with Google AdSense is not as hard as many people make it out to be. The only real trick is to get as much targeted traffic that you can to your website and the more traffic you can get, the more clicks you will get. With the average Click Thru Rate (CTR) being between 2%-3% you will need to get a good amount of traffic in order to make hundreds of dollars every month. All I am saying is that if you avoid the common Google AdSense mistakes, then you should have no problem making a good amount of money from AdSense every month.
